Roberta Vivoli: Being like
Exhibition of 64 original photographs and a video by Roberta Vivoli (Miami, USA, 1969). This is the most exhaustive retrospective of the work of this artist held up to now.
For years Roberta Vivoli has experimented with a wide range of techniques with the double aim of achieving a connection between painting and the photographic medium as well as reflecting the nature of the latter. Hers is not a comprehensive search but an attemp to widen the boundaries of photography. Her work tests the limits of the medium, trying to express what is ineffable.
So, insomuch that hers is a critique of reality or an analysis of an existential logic, her work has nothing to do with "being" but with "being like". Her favourite topics revolve around the perception and the otherness of places along with metamorphosis and its interactions.
