Vallpalou at the UdL
On 6 February the public signing of the delivery of Composició en fusta N. 205 (Paisatge) [Composition on wood N. 205 (Landscape)] - a work by Vallpalou which is owned by the Foundation, took place at the Faculty of Education Science of the University of Lleida. Dr. Joan Viñas, Rector of the UdL, and Teresa Vall Palou signed this agreement in a ceremony organised by the university to publicise the initiative by the Professor Maria Pau Cornadó to create a collection of art in the Faculty. The Vall Palou Foundation and the Viladot Foundation were the first to respond to this initiative.
Composition on wood N. 205 (Landscape) (2006 / Acrylic on wood / 120 x 200 cm)
The land and landscape is always a source of inspiration for me. I love to walk in the early morning through fields or woods - much more than through urban landscapes - and I often take my camera with me as it helps me to retain (and concentrate on) uncontainable compositions and unexpected details. The lines of the countryside (shapes, cracks, imprints, tracks, grooves) find their counterpoint in those of the painting. But the lines of the paint (signs and calligraphy) are also the projections of the most unknown, interior part of me. And when I sign them off as finished works, it is because I see them as being complete, with their own personality; walls for independent contemplation that transcend their creator.
