VALL PALOU : PICTORIAL SPELEOLOGY
Any trip through the colour and paint can start in various ways : you can decide if the color has to determine the form, at what level of abstraction or realism is able to assume or to what extent each step in plastic holder is a reality, constantly experimenting with the possibilities of being spontaneous, in a way that just does not allow too many irresponsible .
In all these ways, the possible and desirable, those who have already been put into the bracket or those who are yet to be discovered in the brush of oils, acrylics or watercolors, it seems that the self-imposed by the artist Vall Palou has chosen those that allow direct expression without losing the relevant base .
FRAME . Let’s do a visual exercise and contemplate the works in this exhibition not as individual but as a quick sequence of shots, one piece after another alternatively without pause intermediate, and easily will see the processing capacity of its palette, as the line spends moving from one work to another as verse the widest range of the same color tone, and how, ultimately Vall Palou works are absolutely aware of the look of a voracious viewer of images accustomed to screens, movies and informatic pixels .
For this reason, once seen its works as mixed ensemble of coloristic poetry, let us look precisely like how the surprise comes in seeing the works individually, because it seems as if the artist had wanted to reverse the process in its works, reveal the pictorial pixels, rediscover the original colour and with the intent to educate the eye again, returning to the viewer no embryonic color – this was done at the time by artists like Miró and Mondrian – not even enhance monochromatic readings the way Rothko, if not offer the viewer the base from which to be able to return to discern every coloristic nuance, frame by frame .
THE FIELD, if we add this intention to engravings, textures and subtle drippings tha the artist incorporates into his pieces, we will discover that poetry is apparent and lyricism is not the most relevant. Its sensitivity is nothing sugary, Vall Palou offers true play of tension between abstraction and matter, an experimentation that goes to the pictorial roots and propound proceedings about the natural purity of the art to use both the technical to create natural discussions . From here it is explained as also recently experienced the photographic medium, in this case fragments of nature that get prominence thanks to a vision between nostalgic, material, reviews and immediate fragmentary surroundings.
Whatever the technique chosen, the fact is that the works of Vall Palou breathe, the lung is none other than a constant research, the vital organ to explain its evolution along a national and international career stroking pictorial land layer by layer, taking into account the deposits, aqueous media and substrates, with the aim of reaching the soul of matter and the brush. Vall Palou not only paints, it is a job where creative caving still latent.
